Bosch dishwasher error codes: what each one means

Use this table to match the code on a Bosch dishwasher display with the system the control is flagging. Start with the first safe check only, and stop if the code points to a part or control fault.

Reading the code

Most Bosch dishwashers show E codes on a digital display, while some models use flashing lights or beeps. To clear a stored code after a safe check, unplug the dishwasher or switch the breaker off for 1 minute, then restore power; many models also cancel a cycle by holding Reset 4 Sec. or Start for about 4 seconds. h:01, h:02 and similar h numbers during normal operation are delay start status messages rather than faults. In a setup menu, H:01 can be a water hardness setting. Low salt or rinse aid indicators are refill reminders.

Have the model number ready

The company will ask for it first. It's on a sticker or metal plate, usually in one of these spots:

Where the model tag usually is on a dishwasher12
  1. Open the door: on the left or right edge of the tub or door
  2. Some models: on the top edge of the door

Common questions about appliance repair

How do I reset a Bosch dishwasher code?

After a safe check, hold Reset 4 Sec. or Start for about 4 seconds to cancel a cycle, or disconnect power for 1 minute. If the code returns, use the table instead of clearing it again.

Why does E24 or E25 come back after I clean the filter?

The pump cover may not be locked, the drain hose or air gap may still be restricted, or the drain pump may have a fault. Stop after the safe checks in the table and use a technician if the code returns.

Are two digit E codes and four digit E codes the same kind of problem?

Bosch support pages list two digit E codes and four digit E codes. This table pairs them when the definitions match.

Is h:01 or H:01 a fault code?

No. h:01, h:02 and similar h numbers during normal operation usually mean delay start. In a setup menu, H:01 can be a water hardness setting, not a fault.
