Bosch oven error codes: what each one means

This table covers confirmed Bosch built in oven fault codes used on US 300, 500, and 800 Series wall ovens. Match the code on the display, try only the safe first check, and call a repair company when the table says a technician is needed.

Reading the code

Errors usually appear as E plus a number on the oven display and may beep. To clear one, press Clear/Off or any button only if the display allows it, then switch power off at the breaker for a minute and turn it back on after the oven is cool; stop using the oven if the code returns. Panel Lock, Sabbath Mode, SABBATH ON, TEMP NOT ALLOWED, and the door lock symbol are status or setting messages, not fault codes.

Have the model number ready

The company will ask for it first. It's on a sticker or metal plate, usually in one of these spots:

Where the model tag usually is on a oven12
  1. Behind the storage drawer, on the frame
  2. Or on the oven frame, visible with the door open

Common questions about appliance repair

Can I reset a Bosch oven error code myself?

You can try a breaker reset for a minute after the oven is cool. If the code returns, stop using the oven and contact a repair company.

Why does E011 or E032 keep coming back?

Moisture, grease, or a stuck touch key can hold a key signal on. Clean and dry the panel with power off; a repeating code usually means the touch panel or user interface needs a technician.

Are E1 and E2 codes different on double ovens?

Yes. In Bosch wall oven service tables, E1 codes usually apply to the upper or single cavity and E2 codes to the lower cavity.

Do older Bosch ovens use the same codes as newer models?

Many codes match, but older 2007 era HBL and HBN wall ovens include codes such as E003, E012, E014, and E118 that don't appear in some newer service tables.

Still showing the problem after the checks?
