Maytag oven error codes: what each one means
Use this table to match the display code with what the control detected and the first safe check to try. Maytag uses several oven and range control platforms, so confirm with the model manual or tech sheet when a code description differs by model.

Codes usually appear on the oven or range control display as F, F# E#, or E# F# formats. To clear one, unplug the range or turn the breaker off for 1 minute, restore power, and monitor the display for about 1 minute. LOC, Lock or Locked means Control Lock, SAB, Sab, 5AB or 5A6 means Sabbath mode, CAL is calibration, C is Celsius display, PF is power failure, Demo Mode is a setting, and these are status messages rather than part faults.
The company will ask for it first. It's on a sticker or metal plate, usually in one of these spots:
- Behind the storage drawer, on the frame
- Or on the oven frame, visible with the door open

Common questions about appliance repair
How do I reset a Maytag oven error code?
Unplug the range or turn the oven breaker off for 1 minute, restore power, then watch the display for about 1 minute. If the code comes back, a technician should diagnose it.
Why does F9 E0 keep coming back?
F9 E0 usually means the control still sees a power supply or wiring problem. A qualified electrician or a technician should verify the outlet, hard wire connection and supply voltage.
Are LOC, SAB, PF and C error codes?
They are usually status or setting messages, not part failures. LOC means Control Lock, SAB means Sabbath mode, PF means a power failure, and C means the display is set to Celsius.
Why do older Maytag oven codes differ from newer F# E# codes?
Maytag uses several control platforms. Older models may show short F codes, while many newer controls show F# E# or E# F# formats.
