LG oven error codes: what each one means
This list covers confirmed LG oven, range, and wall oven codes used on current US cooking models, including oven, surface, griddle, steam, and status messages that can show on the same control. Match the code exactly, try only the safe check listed, and unplug the appliance or turn off the breaker before cleaning or touching anything.

LG oven and range codes appear on the control panel or touch screen as F numbers, short words, or cooktop numbers. To clear most codes, press CLEAR/OFF, STOP, or Power, then unplug the appliance or turn the breaker off for 30 seconds before trying again. Loc, CHILD LOCK, or OVEN LOCKOUT is a lock status, Sb/5b/S6/56 is Sabbath mode, DEMO is showroom mode, HS/H5 is a hot surface reminder, and PF means power was interrupted.
The company will ask for it first. It's on a sticker or metal plate, usually in one of these spots:
- Behind the storage drawer, on the frame
- Or on the oven frame, visible with the door open
LG oven & range error codes
Covers current US LG electric, induction, gas, and dual fuel range controls plus wall oven controls; some older models map F codes differently, so match the model manual when a code meaning conflicts.

Common questions about appliance repair
What if the code clears after a power reset?
Run one short bake test only if the display is clear and the oven acts normal. If the same fault returns, stop using that function and have a technician diagnose it.
Why does my older manual give a different meaning for the same F code?
LG has used different controls across range and wall oven lines. Match the code to the model manual when an older chart conflicts with a current code list.
Are PF, Sb, HS, Loc, or DEMO fault codes?
PF, Sb, HS, Loc, and DEMO are usually status messages, not failed parts. Clear the setting or status first, then look for a repeating F code if the oven still will not run.
Should I keep using the oven if F9 or F19 returns?
No. A repeating heating code can involve high voltage parts or the fuel setup, so a technician should diagnose it before more cooking attempts.
