Samsung dishwasher code 0E: what it means and what to check
Your Samsung dishwasher may flash 0E, oE, or OE, then stop before it washes or start draining right away. This page explains what the code means, what you can safely check from inside the tub, and what a technician tests if the code comes back.

Samsung dishwasher code 0E means the dishwasher thinks the water level is too high, or it can't drain well enough to keep the level where it should be. The most common cause is a blockage in the fine filter, sump, drain path, or the small case-break sensor hose.
Check these first
Safe to do yourself. Unplug the appliance before you start.
- Let it cool, then open the tub
If the dishwasher just ran, crack the door and let hot water and steam settle before reaching into the bottom. Remove the lower rack so you can see the filter area in the center of the tub.
- Clean the fine filter and sump
Turn the filter handle counterclockwise, lift out the filter door, then remove the flat microfilter underneath if your model has one. Rinse the parts, wipe debris from the sump pocket, then lock the filter door back in place. Samsung says this clears the issue most of the time on WaterWall models with 1E or OE.
- Look for a kinked or low drain hose
Check the drain hose under the sink, and only any section you can see without moving the dishwasher. A sharp bend, crushed section, missing high loop, or low hose connection can leave water in the tub and trigger the code.
- Run an empty cleaning cycle
If the filter was dirty, run the dishwasher empty after cleaning it. A dishwasher cleaner, or a bowl with white vinegar placed in the rack, may help loosen soft buildup in the drain hose.
- Power reset once
Turn power to the dishwasher off at the breaker for five minutes, then restore power and start a normal cycle. If 0E returns, treat it as a real water-level or drain fault rather than a display glitch.

The company will ask for it first. It's on a sticker or metal plate, usually in one of these spots:
- Open the door: on the left or right edge of the tub or door
- Some models: on the top edge of the door
Conditions that make this more likely
The house drain can be the real problem
Older homes often have narrow or partly blocked standpipes and drain lines. If the machine's own filter and hose are clear, the house drain is the next suspect, and that's a plumbing call rather than an appliance call.
Boards fail earlier in hot rooms
Electronics are rated for room temperature. In a garage or an unconditioned laundry room in summer, a control board can sit well above that for hours a day. Before replacing a board, a good technician confirms the parts it controls test good, since a shorted pump or valve can take out a new board too.
What a technician tests
Most likely part first. These are for a technician with a meter and the tech sheet, not a weekend project.

Is Samsung dishwasher code 0E the same as OE?
Yes. Many displays make the letter O look like zero, so homeowners search for both 0E and OE. On these dishwashers it points to the same water-level or drain problem.
Can I reset a Samsung dishwasher 0E code?
You can try one breaker reset for five minutes. If the code comes back during fill or drain, cleaning and testing are needed.
Does 0E mean the dishwasher is actually flooding?
Sometimes, but often the tub is not truly overfilled. The case-break sensor chamber can read high if the small passage from the sump is clogged.
Do I need to pull the dishwasher out?
For the filter, sump, and visible drain hose, no. Accessing the case break, internal hoses, drain pump, or control board usually means pulling the unit out and should be handled by a technician.
Is this covered by warranty?
If the dishwasher is still under Samsung coverage, check your documents before authorizing a repair company to replace parts. Clogged filters and debris may be treated differently than a failed part.
